Detroit Metropolitan Airport to reduce its use of fossil fuels

Detroit Metropolitan Airport will reduce its use of fossil fuels by producing its own wind energy at two locations on opposite ends of the facility. The Wayne County Airport Authority Board approved a contract with Michigan-based Southern Exposure Renewable Energy Co. to install five Windspire vertical-axis wind turbines at the airport. The turbines are manufactured by MasTech in Manistee.
