Geothermal Heating/Cooling: Because the temperature of the earth (beginning at about 6 to 10 feet below the surface) stays pretty close to a constant 45 degrees F, heat can be moved, (using a Heat Pump) from the earth to buildings to provide heat in the winter. In the summer, the Heat Pump can move heat from the buildings into the earth to provide cooling.
